The facial areas of the skin are very sensitive and prone to dryness and moisture loss. The treatment of chapped lips on the facial area of the body can be remedied through a number of resources. The lip area of the body is covered by a thin skin layer, with muscle and veins providing the under layer to the skin that form the lips.
Many people are unconscious about the number of times that they repetitively wet their lips during the course of a day. With each stroke of the tongue, the lips moisture level will be gradually depleted, or may be reduced significantly. The treatment of chapped lips is typically a two stage effort that can be conveniently done, with little effort.
The treatment of chapped lips requires that a protective coating be placed over the dry areas of the lip. This can be accomplished through the use of chap sticks, lip balms ointments, and creams that are specially made to provide a lasting, protective layer of moisturizing coverage to the lips. Some of the healing sticks provide the chapped lip sufferer with an extended treatment of chapped lips, because they are enhanced with eucalyptus oils and other natural healing products that sooth the lip layers.
The creams that are used in the treatment of chapped lips may contain a wax substance that is fortified with other natural ingredients such as full strength aloe, or the extract of an aloe plant, aloe vera gel, as well as various floral varieties in extract form, that are included in the ingredients for an emollient facial cream.
There are also overnight moisturizing creams and lotions that can be used for an intensive treatment of chapped lips that can be accomplished while the chapped lips sufferer sleeps. Rich in emollients, these overnight creams provide an overnight healing that does not inconvenience the life of the individual.
Another treatment of chapped lips can be that the person that is suffering from chapped lips would have to make sure that adequate clothing is worn at all times to protect the face and head from the effects that cold weather, wind, and intensive heat may have to those areas that may be readily exposed to those elements. There person may also have an allergy to any number of things that is the culprit for dry, chapped lips.
Cold sores are a prime example of why chapped lips occur and there are treatments available for these cold sores in many over-the-counter medications and treatments. The blistering effects that a cold sore places on the lips, will result in dryness and chapping of the skin on the lips as the sore heals.
