Dry skin for hands may persist to appear despite the use of moisturizing lotions and creams. However, if the appearance of dry skin for hands is contagious, the condition can be called as eczema.

Chapped hands are the often results of dry skin for hands. This usually happens as result of a reduced moisture or water content of the skin. The surface of our hand skin holds certain amount of water and when this water decreases the hand skin becomes very dry, uncomfortable and itchy. Some of us have their own pet peeves when it comes to our hand care. Some may have cold clammy hands while others may have dry coarse hands. There are some who have thin delicate hands wherein the hand skin tears easily.

There are various symptoms of dry skin for hands and that include tenderness, sensitivity, cracking, peeling, redness, dryness and roughness. However, there are some individuals who have genetic predisposition to dry skin for hands wherein their skin on hands becomes drier as aging approaches. The low humidity of winter, dry air, use of indoor heats, and long hot baths or showers can also result to dry skin for hands.

Other factors that increase the risk of dry skin for hands is the frequent hand washing, prolonged exposure to cold or dry weather, windburn or sunburn, allergic reactions to skin care products or history on the skin disorder of eczema. However, the frequent cannot be avoided especially if the person’s job is associated with hand washing.

Dry skin for hands are often left untreated however proper dry skin care should also be observed to avoid recurrent of some skin conditions such as skin inflammation, infections, eczema outbreaks and bacteria entry in the cracks of the skin.

Some of the recommended homemade nourishment combinations for your dry skin for hands include the sugar and oil, sugar and lime, honey lemon juice and oil, lemon juice and barley powder, potato juice, onion juice, turmeric powder, gelatin, and buttermilk and almond oil.

Dry skin for hands usually itch, burn and crack. Washing your dry hands with superfatted soap can be very helpful such as Oil of Olay or Dove as these products contain emollients that can help your dry skin for hands less irritated. You may also some recommended mild lotions for your dry skin hands such as Eurcerin, Aveeno, Purpose, Moisturel and Cetaphil. Lastly, wearing protective gloves for your dry skin for hands should also be done as this will help protect your hands from constant contact with chemicals of bathroom cleaners, bleaches and harsh detergents. Also, make sure that you are wearing protective gloves with cotton liners.
